Yearn on iOS
Roxette
An iOS prototype for experimenting with the Yearn product on a native platform.
I designed and built this project independently, using my own resources.
01 / Context
The problem behind the project
A native prototype provides a different way to explore a product idea and its mobile interactions.
Roxette explores the native iOS side of Yearn, particularly audio playback and a small player/playlist interface. It is earlier work in the same broad media direction as the later radio and television systems.
02 / Implementation
Design and implementation
I developed the iOS experiment alongside the Yearn web frontend.
I built SwiftUI views and an observable player model around AVPlayer. The model configures the playback audio session, tracks media time, exposes play/pause/seek actions, and integrates now-playing metadata and remote transport commands.
The retained implementation uses a fixed radio source and contains unfinished application screens. That makes the source useful as an experiment in native playback integration rather than evidence of a complete streaming catalog.
03 / Approach
Engineering decisions
Keep the experiment bounded
The public source contains a Swift Xcode application. It is described as prototyping work rather than a released product.
04 / Evidence
Evidence and outcomes
The public player model contains the periodic time observer, MediaPlayer now-playing updates, remote command handlers, and finite/live-duration handling. The neighboring screens show which interface pieces remained placeholders.
Source and technical notes
05 / Current scope
Where it stands
An earlier iOS prototype.
No current App Store distribution or complete device acceptance is claimed. A fixed sample stream and registered remote controls are not proof of a production media product.
